當(dāng)人們觀察到的場景與自身的過往經(jīng)歷越相似，鏡像神經(jīng)元就越活躍，尤其是當(dāng)這些場景與運動神經(jīng)的活動相關(guān)的時候。所以，球迷往往會有下意識的“從眾”行為：球隊贏了就集體狂歡，輸了就集體哭泣。
此外研究人員還發(fā)現(xiàn)，對那些“真球迷”而言，鏡像神經(jīng)元還有助于他們更好地“讀懂”球賽。對比實驗顯示，在觀賽的時候，那些“真球迷”能夠更好地預(yù)測球路走向，此時，他們的鏡像神經(jīng)元比那些“偽球迷”更活躍。
維也納醫(yī)科大學(xué)腦研究中心的奧梅拉·瓦倫蒂說：“鏡像神經(jīng)元能使我們憑直覺捕捉到其他人的意圖，而且我們可以根據(jù)過往的經(jīng)驗更好地理解這些意圖或行為。”
